Operators Manual for used on touchscreen self service terminals and mobile devices, often simultaneously. The Manual guided users through the process of troubleshooting, repairs and general maintenance of a custom-designed customer-facing touchscreen payments terminal.

The UX and UI needed to provide the Manual with highly efficient usability under potentially highly pressured contexts. The user experienced needed to be self-explanatory, guiding users through complex processes in the simplest, easiest and most intuitive manner possible. User analysis and training process-flow analysis presented the consideration that despite rigorous training there would always be first time users of the terminal, such as new or temporary staff members attending to routine maintenance and minor repairs.

Another user group, technical specialists, who would be addressing major repair work, also required a highly efficient, ergonomic and intuitive interface that provided no distraction from their work. Both user groups would need to access the Manual on their mobile phone. The visual language grew out of a global design system and the photographic style natural and friendly to balance out the technical content. Case study available on request.
